About Ashra Project

Discover our vision, mission, and commitment to nurturing dignity, independence, and belonging

Vision & Ethos

At its heart, Ashra (meaning 'nurture' in Arabic) is about cultivating dignity, independence, and belonging.

The project was born from a recognition that mainstream services often overlook the nuanced needs of families navigating disability, caregiving, and social exclusion—particularly within Slough's richly diverse communities.

Ashra seeks to bridge that gap—offering not just care, but community, cultural understanding, and a voice.

Our Mission

Its mission is to:

  • Empower young people with disabilities to live independently and confidently
  • Support families and carers with practical help and emotional resilience
  • Advocate for inclusive, culturally competent services across health and education sectors
